Summary:

We are looking for an insurance Paralegal to join our growing legal team. This individual will provide professional and administrative support to the General Counsel and other departments seeking legal assistance and direction.  He/she will possess strong verbal and written communication skills and have excellent organizational abilities in a multi-tasking, multiple priorities environment.  He/she needs to be “wired for service”, always keeping an eye toward the needs of the team and most importantly, our executive team.  We are seeking someone who is highly reliable, responsive and resourceful.

Responsibilities:

  • Researches and analyzes law sources such as state and federal statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes
  • Prepares legal documents such as third party administrator annual reports, legal memos, licensing applications and renewals, contracts, legal memos, initial and amended articles of incorporation, marketing agreements, NDAs, and other agreements for review, approval, and use by the general counsel
  • Reviews corporate documents, director and officer titles, producer licensing status to prepare various insurance regulatory forms for filing
  • Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, gathering information, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail
  • Maintains document files
  • Assists other departments in completing contract templates, various legal and regulatory forms, for review by general counsel
  • Acts as law librarian, keeping and monitoring legal files
  • Searches trademark files to ascertain originality materials, and tracks trademark applications. Maintains corporate records of all issued trades
  • Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system
  • Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experienced with legal research on Westlaw or Lexis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • A professional appearance and telephone manner is essential
  • Must have a good command of the English language, oral, and written
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentially
  • Needs to be receptive to and accepting guidance from others
  • Ability to deal with difficult people and problems
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Able to work in a diverse group of people
